How to Plant & Use

You can plant Kasturi Mango in ground or in a big container.

• Spacing (Ground): Keep at least 10–12 feet distance from other trees. Mango roots spread wide.
• Pot Size: Minimum 18–24 inch drum or cement pot. Bigger is better. Sometimes they grow huge!
• Soil Mix: Garden soil + compost + river sand (40:40:20). Soil must drain water easily.
• Planting Tip: Do not bury the graft joint under soil. Keep it above soil level. Very important.

Growing & Care Tips

• Sunlight: Full sun is a must. Without sunlight, fruiting will be weak.
• Watering: Water deeply but not daily. Put finger in soil. If top 1–2 inch feels dry, then water. Simple test.
• Fertilizer: Use cow dung compost every 2–3 months. During flowering, add neem cake and a little bone meal.
• Support: Use bamboo stick support in early stage. Wind can bend young graft.
• Pruning: Light pruning after fruiting season. Remove dead branches.
• Pest Care: Mango hoppers and mealybugs can come. Spray neem oil every 15 days in season.

In Indian climate, especially in states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and North India plains, it grows well if protected from heavy frost. In North India, cover young plant in peak winter.

One small nursery secret — during flowering, reduce watering slightly. It helps better fruit setting.

• Always buy grafted Kasturi Mango Plant. Seed-grown plants may not give same fruit quality.
• First 2 years, focus on plant growth. Do not rush for fruits.
• Add one handful wood ash around plant before flowering. Old farmers trick.
• Be careful with roots while repotting. Mango roots don’t like too much disturbance.
• In terrace pots, change top 2 inches soil every year. Fresh compost gives better growth.
