Punjab Beauty Pear

If you want a fruit tree that doesn’t act like a “nakhre-waali” plant, the Punjab Beauty Pear is your best bet. This variety is specially developed to thrive in the Indian plains, handling the heat much better than the old hilly varieties. We sell only the Grafted version, which means the tree stays manageable in size and starts fruiting much earlier than normal.

What Makes Punjab Beauty Pear Special?

  • Crunchy & Sweet: Unlike the mealy pears you find in some markets, this one has a crisp texture with a perfect balance of sweetness and juice.
  • Beautiful Appearance: The fruit is medium-sized with a yellow-green skin and a very attractive red blush when it’s fully ripe.
  • Tough Variety: It is a “low-chill” variety, so it doesn’t need snow to produce fruit—it grows perfectly fine in places like Punjab, Haryana, and UP.
  • Sturdy Growth: In my nursery, I’ve noticed this plant has a very strong “main stem,” making it less likely to bend or break during high winds.

How to Plant & Use

Pears need space to spread their roots. If you are planting in the ground, keep a gap of 15 feet from other trees. For terrace gardeners, you can grow this in a 24-inch large drum, but ensure it has plenty of drainage holes.

Pro Tip: Pair this with our Vibaco Australian Apricot to create a diverse fruit orchard that thrives in the same climate!

Health & Garden Benefits

  • High in Fiber: Great for your gut health and keeps you full for longer.
  • Climate Fighter: It is highly resistant to the North Indian Loo (hot summer winds) once established.
  • Low Calorie: A perfect healthy snack for weight-watchers, straight from your branch.
  • Aesthetic Flowers: In spring, the tree gets covered in white flowers that look like a dream.
  • Long Shelf Life: These pears stay firm for a long time after picking, so they don’t spoil quickly.

Nursery Secrets – Detailed Care

  • Sunlight: Always plant this in an East or South-Facing spot. It needs the morning sun to dry the dew off its leaves, which prevents fungal “beemari” (diseases).
  • Watering: In summer, give it a good soaking twice a week. During winter, the tree goes into dormancy (it will drop all its leaves—don’t panic, it’s not dead!). Stop watering almost completely during this time.
  • Soil Mix: Pears love a bit of grit. Use 50% Soil, 20% Sand, and 30% old Gobar Khad. This prevents water from standing and rotting the roots.
  • Fertilizer: Every January, I feed my trees a mix of Vermicompost, 100g Neem Khali (to stop “deemak”), and a spoonful of Bone Meal. This gives the tree the “taqat” (strength) to produce heavy flowers.
  • Pruning: Prune the center branches in December. This lets the air pass through the middle of the tree, which is the secret to getting bigger, juicier pears.

Expert Note: As per PAU (Punjab Agricultural University) research, the Punjab Beauty variety is recommended for its consistent yield and resistance to common pear pests in the plains.
