Nursery Secrets – Detailed Care

• Sunlight: In India, position your tree where it gets the full morning sun. While it loves the heat, during peak May-June, the afternoon sun can be harsh for young saplings.
• Watering: During summer, water deeply every alternate day. In winter, the tree goes into dormancy (drops its leaves); reduce watering significantly then, or the roots might rot.
• Soil Mix: Use a well-draining mix of 40% Soil, 30% Sand, and 30% Compost. This prevents “deemak” (termites) and waterlogging.
• Fertilizer: Every February (before flowering), feed the tree with 500g Vermicompost, 2 spoons of Neem Khali (to keep pests away), and a pinch of Bone Meal for strong fruit setting.
• Pruning: I always tell my customers—don’t be afraid to snip! Prune in late January to open up the center of the tree. This allows sunlight to reach the inner branches and increases fruit size.
