Macadamia is the nut that pays for its own patience. Buttery, cream-white, and sold at a price most other crops never touch. Our grafted macadamia nut plants are raised for exactly that job — put one in the right pocket of soil and it will keep dropping nuts long after you have stopped counting the years.

Why Growers Keep Coming Back to Macadamia

• Small land, high return. You fit only 150–220 trees in an acre, but each mature tree carries 15 to 50 kg of nuts. The rate per kilo is what makes the maths work.
• Grafted, so you wait less. Seed-grown trees make you sit for 10–12 years. This one starts giving a small crop around year four or five.
• It outlives the loan. A healthy macadamia tree stays productive past 40 years. Plant it once, hand it to the next generation.
• Demand is climbing. The health benefits story — good fats, no cholesterol, a nut people snack on guilt-free — has pulled Indian buyers in fast, and local supply is still thin.
• Where it says no. Heavy frost kills it and hot dry plains stress it. Below 1,000 mm of rain you will need drip. We would rather tell you now than after you have paid.

What lands at your gate

One grafted macadamia plant, 45–60 cm tall, in a poly bag with its root ball damp and intact. The graft joint sits low on the stem and you can see it — run your thumb over it, it should feel firm, not soft. Bags travel upright in a boxed frame so the stem does not whip about.

A folded planting sheet goes in with it: pit size, spacing options for your acreage, and what to feed in the first two years. Our nursery number is printed on it. People call. We answer.

One thing from our own rows — macadamia sulks after a long truck ride. A few older leaves may yellow and drop in the first fortnight. That is the plant putting its energy into roots, not a dying tree. Water it, shade it for ten days, and new flush shows up by the second month. The ones that worry us are the ones that look untouched.

What is the macadamia nuts price in India?

Shelled kernels sell anywhere from ₹2,000 to ₹4,000 a kilo at retail, and in-shell rates at the farm gate run far lower. Ask your nearest processor before you plan an acre — rates move with import volumes. Our plant price is listed above; bulk slabs start at 50 plants.

What is macadamia called in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada?

Honestly, it has no old Indian name. The tree came from Australia, so every language just borrows the sound of it — मैकाडामिया in Hindi (you will hear people loosely say मैकाडामिया अखरोट), మకడామియా in Telugu, மக்காடமியா in Tamil, and ಮಕಡಾಮಿಯಾ in Kannada. If a seller quotes you some ancient local name, be careful about what you are actually buying.

What are the health benefits of these nuts?

They carry more monounsaturated fat than almost any other nut, which is the fat linked with better heart numbers. No cholesterol, a good dose of manganese and thiamine. A small handful is plenty — they are rich, and they are heavy on calories.

Will it grow in my area?

It does well in the hill belts — Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru, the Nilgiris, Wayanad, and similar mid-elevation pockets with cool nights and free-draining soil. Hot plains and frost zones are a poor bet. Send us your district and we will say yes or no straight.

How are the nuts harvested?

You do not pluck them. Ripe nuts drop on their own, you gather from the ground, husk them the same day, and dry them properly. Leave the husk on and mould sets in fast.
