Shan-e-Punjab Peach
If you want to grow peaches but don’t live in the snowy mountains, the Shane Punjab Peach is your best friend. Developed right here in India in 1979, this variety was “born” to handle our local weather. I love this plant because it gives you that classic “hill station fruit” feel even if you live in a hot city. It’s a tough, deciduous tree that looks beautiful with pink flowers in the spring and gives heavy fruit by early summer.

Shane Punjab Peach Key Characteristics:
The Fruit: You get medium to large peaches that are very juicy. They have a sweet taste with just a tiny “chatpata” hint of tanginess.
The Look: In the spring, the tree turns completely pink with lovely flowers. It looks like an ornamental plant before it starts giving fruit!
Low Maintenance: Whether you have a big backyard in Punjab or a small balcony in Bangalore, this plant adjusts easily.
Grafted for Speed: We only sell Grafted Shane Punjab plants. This is a nursery secret—seed-grown trees take years, but our grafted ones fruit very early and stay true to the mother variety.
How to Plant & Use
In Pots or Ground: Since it has a spreading canopy, it can grow 10-20 feet in the ground. For city dwellers, it fits perfectly in a 20-inch drum if you prune it regularly.
Smart Pairing: To make your garden even better, you can pair this with our Satluj Purple Plum to create a beautiful low-chill fruit orchard in your backyard.
Health & Garden Benefits
Rich in Nutrition: These peaches are powerhouses of Vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants, which are great for skin and digestion.
Ornamental Value: Unlike many fruit trees, this one looks stunning. The bright green leaves and pink/red spring flowers make your garden look premium.
Climate Fighter: It is one of the few peaches that doesn’t die in the Indian summer. It handles subtropical heat much better than imported varieties.
Nursery Secrets: Care Like an Expert
Sunlight: This plant is a sun-lover. Place it where it gets maximum light, especially from the South or East. Without good sun, you won’t get that “vibrant” red color on the peach skin.
Watering: In the summer, the leaves are large and drink a lot of water. Keep the soil moist. In winter, the tree will shed its leaves—don’t worry, it’s just sleeping! Reduce water during this time.
Soil & Food: It loves well-drained soil. Don’t let water stand at the roots (no “pich-pich” soil). Mix in plenty of Vermicompost every few months. To protect the roots from Indian soil pests, always mix a little Neem Khali into the top layer.
External Authority: As per the official research from Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), the Shane Punjab variety is highly recommended for its high yield and early ripening in the Indian plains.
